The Canopus Foundation focuses on two main topics: energy access and education and science for a sustainable economy.

The main focus of the foundation's work on the topic of energy access is on poverty alleviation in developing countries as well as on environmental and climate protection. We support especially those projects and organizations which electrify low-income households in rural regions, and hence improve people’s quality of life.

On the topic of education and science for a sustainable economy, the foundation aims at contributing to solving the legitimacy crisis of the economic sciences. Since 2014, the Canopus Foundation supports initiatives that intend to open up space for thought on a more plurality driven approach to economics, and a more detailed analysis of the preconditions for a sustainable economy and society.
